HEALTH-PREGN-RO-HU project is devoted to improving the medical expertise and infrastructure of partner institutions in the field of reproductive health. Medical staff expertise, techniques, protocols, laboratories and medical equipment will be improved/upgraded to the benefit of healthcare users and providers in the area.
Project activities focus on four main topics:
- renewal and development of laboratories
- purchase of equipment
- introducing new tests to explore the deeper causes of infertility and habitual abortion, thereby improving the rate of successful pregnancy
- improving medical and technical expertise of medical staff
Additionally, a new pre-implantation genetic screening and diagnostic service will be created in the region and a study on the epidemiological and regional genetic infertility profile will be available at the end of the project.
Furthermore, a series of information actions and events, including this page, are meant to raise awareness on reproductive health issues among primary care staff, NGOs and population in the cross-border area.
The main overall objective of this joint project is to improve screening, diagnostic and preventive health care services in microbiology and human genetics aiming infertility, increasing maternal age, preconceptional, prenatal and postnatal diagnostics in the Romanian-Hungarian cross-border area, through a strategic approach by investing in medical diagnostic infrastructure, including laboratory reconstructions, upgrading equipment and implementing new methods and by sharing experience, transferring knowledge and exchanging know-how between the cooperating partners for the benefit of large patient populations and for reducing health care inequalities.
Specific objectives
- Improve the diagnostic services related to infertility, healthy pregnancy and newborn care
Improved and harmonized level of prevention, screening and diagnostic services in the domain of reproductive health in terms of quality and cost efficiency, based on project partnership between physicians on the two sides of the border.
- Installation and operation of modern equipment in 7 departments
Improved level of endowments for 7 healthcare departments in all partner institutions in order to provide accurate and cost-efficient screening and diagnostic services
- Raise the awareness of the population
Comprehensive and coordinated information channels in place through the implemented awareness campaign for the population and relevant stakeholders in the region. The project will overcome barriers to access to services and generate demand for such services by promotional actions meant to increase awareness and stimulate demand for preventive care and health screening.
